RJ Carrier
RJ Carrier Duquette is a New York City based movement professional who began dancing in Seattle in 2019. He spent his early years exploring a wide range of styles, eventually developing a deep enthusiasm for heels, modern, contemporary, and commercial jazz.
His training with ZTHEORY shaped both his technical foundation and his sense of what was possible for him as a dancer, equipping him to pursue his artistry from a biomechanically sound place informed by ballet and latin ballroom techniques.
A pivotal chapter in burlesque expanded his understanding of performance, deepening his appreciation for the body as both instrument and subject, the presentation and subversion of gender, and the playful negotiation between skin, stage, and audience. That experience continues to inform the texture of his work, where sensuality, humor, and intention coexist.
Alongside performance and choreography, RJ teaches STOTT PILATES® and The GYROTONIC® Method, integrating these biomechanical and proprioceptive systems to support strength, efficiency, and adaptability in the body. These practices are central not only to his own training, but to how he supports others in building sustainable, intelligent movement.
For RJ, movement is a practice grounded in presence, process, and longevity, valuing craft, clarity, and embodied intelligence over spectacle.
